Our Story

Baby on Board Recitals was founded by Beth Gallimore, a mother, classically trained pianist, and mental health researcher.

When Beth became a parent, she found herself searching for a space where she could still enjoy high-quality classical music while caring for her baby.

She wanted a place where parents could sit back, unwind, and appreciate the beauty of music—without feeling judged if their baby needed to be fed, changed, or just have a good old cry.

As both a musician and a mental health researcher, Beth understands—both personally and professionally—how crucial it is to care for mental well-being, especially during the early stages of parenthood. Many new parents can feel isolated, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Baby on Board Recitals was created to provide a moment of rest and retreat—something for the parents, as well as for the babies.

She also knew firsthand the profound benefits of exposing babies to live classical music—from supporting early brain development to fostering a sense of calm and connection.

Here, music is not just entertainment—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, your baby, and share a love of live performance.

What is Baby On Board Recitals?

A recital experience for parents and babies

While our recitals are designed to be baby-friendly, they are primarily created with parents in mind. We believe that parents of young children deserve access to exceptional live music—without the pressure of keeping their baby silent or still.

Our recitals offer varied and engaging programmes, ensuring that whether you’re a dedicated classical music lover or attending your first recital, there’s something to enjoy. Whilst Baby on Board Recitals is rooted in classical music, our concerts can also include music across the genres, such as jazz and musical theatre. The repertoire is carefully selected—not to be overly simplified or “childlike,” but to create a rich, immersive musical experience that parents can truly appreciate.

At the same time, every performance is thoughtfully curated for babies. We ensure that the music is soothing rather than overstimulating, and pieces are kept to a comfortable length, allowing for a natural and enjoyable experience for little ones.

Concerts last approximately 45 minutes, give or take 5 minutes or so.

A parent-baby music experience where no nursery rhymes need to be sung!

Dancing is always welcome! Babies and parents are encouraged to move and respond naturally to the music. Babies can often engage with expressive, even complex pieces in ways that surprise us—listening openly, without preconceptions.

You may be amazed at just how much your baby enjoys the music!

We also provide soft flooring, buggy parking, and baby-changing facilities at all our venues, ensuring that your baby is comfortable, and you can relax and enjoy the music.
